Happiness quite unshared can scarcely be called happiness! With this belief, the children, parents and teachers of Pre-primary enthusiastically plunged into the week of “Joy of Sharing”. It was a week of sharing stories of goodness and kindness, cookies and toffees that we all love and most of all it was a week where we all came together to share a little with those less privileged than us.
In Nursery -the week started with storytelling sessions for the children and the story of ‘Rainbow Fish’ was an instant hit with all – children and teachers. This encouraged the children to engage in peer to peer reading – getting books from home, sharing stories with friends and classmates. This was followed by pot luck where all the children brought one food item from home and a visit from the children of Jnanabandhu. Our students wholeheartedly engaged in activities with the students of Jnanabandhuschool and the week culminated with parent volunteers’ support – Diya making and selling to share the proceeds with those who less privileged.
In Kindergarten – The Joy of sharing week kicked off with ‘Chabeel’, where our children made Roohafza and offered it to the support staff and visitors. They also saw the film Stone soup. The following day they shared the responsibility of helping the class didi keep the classroom neat and clean. A sharing pot/basket was created where the children brought in a food item from home to share with the children of Jnanabandhu. These were put into bags and kept ready for the next day. Our children interacted and engaged in different activities with the children from Jnanabandhu. In the week, the children created and painted beads and pendants that were then crafted into lovely pieces of jewellery. This was made possible with the support from our parent volunteers. The week culminated with the sale of the jewellery, the proceeds of which were shared with those less privileged.
